The amount of sludge produced in wastewater treatment plants (WWTPs) has increased over the years, and methods used to reduce this waste, such as incineration, agricultural use, or disposal landfills, cause problems secondary pollution. For reason, it is necessary find sustainable low-cost solutions manage waste. Additionally, emerging priority pollutants are attracting attention from scientific community they can generate health due inadequate removal conventional WWTPs. In work, a pharmaceutical industry was precursor synthesis four activated carbons (ACs) using different activating agents (ZnCl2, FeCl3∙6H2O, Fe(NO3)3∙9H2O, Fe(SO4)3∙H2O), be for by adsorption three neonicotinoid pesticides included latest EU Watch List (Decision 2018/840): acetamiprid (ACT), thiamethoxam (THM), imidacloprid (IMD). prepared ACs showed micro–mesoporous properties, obtaining relatively slow kinetics reach equilibrium, but despite this, high values capacity (qe) were obtained. example, AC-ZnCl2 (SBET = 558 m2/g), capacities qe 128.9, 126.8, 166.1 mg/g ACT, THM, IMD, respectively, found. most cases, isotherms multilayer profile, indicating an important contribution mesoporosity process.
